Es ist ein gutes Buch, mit einem sanften Ton, teilweise auch witzig und derb im Ausdruck. Liebevoll, poetisch. Im Grunde hat Dinçer Güçyeter seiner Mutter gehuldigt.

Gleichzeitig steht sie für die 1. Gastarbeitergeneration, die – soweit ich mich erinnern kann – nie wirklich eine aussagekräftige Stimme in Deutschland erhalten hat.

Ich bin zwar Italienerin der 3. Gastarbeitergeneration, konnte mich aber in vielen Aspekten erkennen, weil ich in diesem Milieu verkehrt habe und die Problematiken kenne, wenn nicht direkt von mir, dann von Freunden.
•
Ich, für meinen Teil, habe gut die Hälfte meines Lebens damit verbracht, mir eine Identität und Zugehörigkeit aufdrücken zu wollen, bis ich erkannt habe, dass es von Vorteil ist nirgendwo dazuzugehören: Es verleiht ungemeine Freiheit.

Lesen. Aus sprachlicher Sicht interessant (verschiedene Stimmen, Geschichten in Geschichten, Erzählperspekttiven), schlicht formuliert (auch eine Kunst!), mit einer poetischen Note.
